About the Middle-Earth Interactive Map

This project provides a fan-made interactive map of Middle-earth at the end of the Third Age with zoom controls, point-of-interest labels, and source filtering.

What the map includes

Sources and methodology

Places are collected from several references including original Tolkien cartography, Christopher Tolkien maps, The Atlas of Middle-earth by Karen Wynn Fonstad, and MERP map material.

The drawing, terrain composition, and interaction design are handcrafted to keep the map legible at multiple zoom levels.
